Boring work remains so in any city, on any continent of the planet. Every day is similar to the previous one. It is full of monotonous actions. If you do this kind of work all your life, it will badly affect your health. The protagonist of this story works as a conductor on the bus. For nine years he has been traveling between two cities. But it seems to him that several centuries have passed. This is the end of March. The road is wet and light rain knocking on the roof of the bus. There are more passengers than usual. This is the very end of a long rainy season. Soon, farmers will start harvesting. But all these things are of little interest for the main character. He always has one desire — to make another journey over as quickly as possible.

This book tells about the most famous criminals in the United States. This is not about ordinary petty offenders. These people became really famous by their deeds. Only the most interesting and unusual cases are presented in this story. Dr. Hawley Harvey Krippen met a young girl named Cora. Harvey's first wife died long time ago. Later he married this beautiful girl. Cora was cruel, domineering and did not love her husband. She was dreaming about the career of the singer and wanted her husband to earn much more money. Doctor's salary was too small to pay for the vocal lessons. Cora was not very good at singing. No matter how hard she tried to perform — she failed to become a famous star. One day she suddenly disappeared.

Max and Lara are brother and a sister. They are twins. The children spend another summer in a small picturesque village, not far from Stonehenge. First it seems too much boring — the nearest city is far from there, there are only forests, fields and clear air. Absolutely nothing to do! But still the curious twins will not be bored, because there's a lot of interesting things to discover around. They find an ancient mysterious symbol and a book full of ciphers and secrets. Their uncle is not who they thought he was. Max and Lara boldly take up the investigation, like real professional detectives. Soon, these two brave teenagers are involved in some exciting adventures. What will their search lead to? Is it enough just one summer to reveal all the secrets?

The courtroom is full of people. Everybody gathered for the sake of today's court case. Two young men Dan Smith and Simon Clark get up from the dock. The clerk strictly looks at them and asks: «Who killed Mary Jones?» They said: «We are not guilty. We did not do it.» But this can be a lie. There is a possibility these young men are real killers. The police officers found a murder weapon in the stolen car. Later they found some traces of blood on Simon's head. If the jury decides they are guilty – Dan and Simon will be sentenced to prison up to a lot of years. Will the lawyers be able save young people and find out the truth? Each present man in that building also wants to know about the murder of that poor woman. The reader can learn everything too.

Gail is a nurse in the casualty department. A man has been severely injured in a car crash. His face is unrecognizable, but there is information that he's a famous rock star Alex Hayle. The singer is supposed to be on concert tour worth10 million pounds. But instead of it he's in a coma and the doctors say his condition is serious. Gail is surprised by the strange behaviour of his manager Clarence Tucker. He doesn't allow the doctors to speak to the media about Alex's health. Then he even lies to the TV reporters that the singer is feeling much better and will perform soon. Despite the doctor's advice, Tucker decides to move Alex to a private hospital. In a few months, there is shocking news — Alex Hayle is ready to perform but with a new face, as he's had a plastic surgery. But is it really the same singer that was in a coma only several months ago? Gail is determined to find out the truth.

Слово «артикль» — article частенько вводит в ступор тех, кто изучает английский язык. А все потому, что в русском языке не существует такого понятия. А, значит, и смысл существования артикля в английском языке, и его роль так и остаются непонятыми. И появляются ошибки – где выбрали не тот, который нужно; где пропустили, где поставили лишний. Если вы занимаетесь с преподавателем индивидуально (например, учите английский язык по Skype), то репетитор не продолжит обучение, пока не убедится, что вы усвоили этот материал. Но вот при самостоятельном изучении могут возникнуть трудности. Чтобы разобраться в том, что же представляет собой артикль в английском языке, недостаточно запомнить теоретическую информацию, необходимо выполнять как можно больше практических заданий, отрабатывающих эту тему, а также постоянно обращать внимание на артикли в любом англоязычном тексте, с которым вы работаете. Со временем вы научитесь ставить артикли в английском языке, особо не задумываясь. Это скорее будет действие интуитивное. Даже если вы не вспомните, почему тот или иной артикль должен стоять именно здесь, вы все равно будете уверены, что «так надо», и это не раз поможет вам в совершенствовании ваших знаний.

Тема артиклей всегда трудно дается студентам, которые только приступают к изучению английского. В русском языке нет такого явления, как «артикль», поэтому нам бывает трудно понять, для чего он нужен. Откроем секрет: во всех языках мира главная функция артикля – это показать, что следом после него идет существительное. Артикль как будто говорит: «Обратите внимание, после меня будет какой-нибудь предмет, явление или человек!» В русском языке сама по себе форма слова показывает, что это существительное. Но в английском часто бывает так, что одна и та же форма слова может быть существительным, а может быть глаголом, например: a hand – рука, to hand – передавать что-то. Поэтому так важно уделить особое внимание теме артиклей. Представьте, как кто-то говорит по-русски без существительных. Именно так звучит наша речь для иностранцев, когда мы не употребляем артикли!
